Buddy Guy walked on stage, plugged his guitar in and proceeded to tear me apart – I sat there stunned..... it was a revelation and at the same time, a devastating realisation that although I would spend the rest of my life trying, I would never be able to sing the Blues from the same place as him. I would have to find my own place. Academically, I knew by this time, a lot about 'the Blues' and the musicians who played it, but I would never truly know where this music came from. I could only pick it up somewhere along the line and interpret it in my own humble way. It would set me on a path I would never stray from, or so I thought........but that's another 'blog'.
